Tamambo Karen Blixen coffee garden is located in a beautiful peaceful setting on Karen road, near the Karen Blixen museum, about half a mile from the Karen golf and country club. It is the site of the original farmhouse which was the Blixen property. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 06.00am through to 10.00pm and the menu is a fusion of tamarind and Tamambo dishes

Dining at Tamambo

Diners have a choice of different areas for lunch or dinner - the cosy, indoor restaurant with adjacent terrace and garden for a la carte dining or any of the functions areas such as the grand marquee sultan style tent, available for 'royal style' weddings, dinners and conferences. The grogan house is a lovely space for private dinners and exclusive functions.

The restaurant and function areas are situated in one of the largest and oldest formal gardens in Kenya. Huge jacaranda, candelabra cactus,bottle brush and other trees and over 200 species of blooming flower varieties surround the restaurant.The bar which opens out to a lounge, with delicious tamambo cocktails, bar snacks and satellite tv to catch all the sporting events, has become a popular meeting place for many karen residents.

Conferencing

Here are 3 versatile venues that include; grand marquise tent, grogan house and the inside dining room.

Conference package includes:note pads, pens, a flip chart and a 500 ml bottle of water in the morning and the afternoon per person. A 10am and a 4pm coffee/tea break is served with cookies. Lunch is a set menu with a starter, main course and desert, tea and coffee. The bar sits up to 100 pax and can be extended to the outside lawns/gardens. Grogan house includes a partition which has a bar and kitchen. It can sit up to 25 pax for conferences and 70 pax for cocktail parties.

The garden holds a capacity of 70 – 100 pax depending on the weather and shade available. The tent is mainly used for functions, major lunches/festive seasons. It can hold a capacity of 150 pax seated and 200 pax stand up (cocktail parties).

Accommodation

The coffee garden has 16 en-suite rooms each with large bathrooms and, one large honeymoon (executive) suite. We have three units which house two en-suite bedrooms and a joint sitting room (family style cottage). All rooms are furnished with fireplaces, verandahs, satellite tv, digital internet lease line connection (except honeymoon suite), mini-bar, bath and shower, robes and hair dryers. There is a gym, spa, swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna for guests. We offer late night room service and early morning breakfast. Meals can be arranged in the main dining room, bar, gardens or your rooms. For larger groups by reservation in grogan house, swedo house or the grand marquee tent.
